The Galentine/Valentine Love Fest

We’re all familiar with traditional, romantic Valentine’s Day on February 14, but Galentine’s Day, created to appreciate friendship with your girlfriends, is February 13. Dancing Eye Gallery is having a “meet the artist” event to celebrate this more recently declared holiday on Friday, February 3 from 6-8 p.m. Jen Lootens will be bringing some new and very affordable jewelry creations with her that night. Don’t miss the fun! Bring your girlfriends!

Book Signing Event This Friday!

Local author Walter G. Esselman will be signing his books at the Dancing Eye Gallery this Friday, January 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. Esselman is the author of numerous works including 64 published short stories and one novella. He earned 1st place in the World of Myth’s Open Contract Challenge in 2020.

Walter says “Catmandu is notable for having Only one commandment: Don’t Be a Jerk. This includes not only to other living things, but yourself as well.”

This makes us think of cat-related Valentine’s ideas, too – a perfect pairing with one of Walter’s books!

And, by all means, do not forget to be prepared (after all the Valentine festivities) with this:

The Wolf Moon

Though this first full moon of the new year (visible tonight through Wednesday morning), is often nicknamed the Wolf Moon and thought to be connected to wolves’ increased howling in the cold winter months due to hunger, we now know that wolves’ howling is more of a territorial act as they make their presence known. Howl if you must, but know, too, that astrologically this January moon (aka Ice Moon, Old Moon, Snow Moon) brings a sense of self-illumination as in ‘new year, new me.” A time to be a bit more introspective and to nurture yourself. Nurturing … a perfect segue to Valentine’s Day! The moon can say many things in love and be very romantic!
